What we keep, and what we never touch
Your photo
The measurement scan — light, angle, framing, expression — runs inside your browser, on your device, using a model your browser downloads from us. Those measurements exist only in the memory of that tab and are gone when you close it. We keep no facial template or embedding.
To write the read, a downscaled copy of your photo is sent once to our AI provider, which returns the text. That copy is used to generate the response and not retained by us; the provider processes it under their own terms, and we send nothing that identifies you alongside it.
If you are signed out, your photo is not stored — it passes through for the read and is dropped. If you are signed in, a downscaled copy is also saved to your private gallery so you can re-read past results: it lives in a private bucket only your account can open, and you can delete every saved photo any time from your account. Prefer to keep photos off entirely? Skip the photo step — your quiz result is yours without it.
What is stored, and where
- In your browser: your results — type, aura, the observations, your quiz answers and the year of birth you entered. This is what makes progress tracking possible. It stays on your device unless you sign in.
- On our servers: nothing about you, unless you give us your email or sign in.
- If you give us your email: we store the address, which plan you were looking at, your aura and type at that moment, and where you arrived from. We use it to tell you once when checkout opens. We do not sell it, rent it, or pass it to anyone for their own marketing.
- If you sign in: your scan history syncs to our database so it follows you across devices — derived numbers and text. Any photos you take while signed in are also kept, in a private gallery only your account can open; delete them any time from your account.
Usage data
We record which steps of the flow people reach, so we know where the product loses them. Those events carry a random identifier generated in your browser, the campaign parameters in the link you arrived through, and your IP address as seen by our server. There is no advertising tracker and no third-party analytics script on this site.
Deleting everything
Your results have a delete button on your account; it clears the browser copy and, if you are signed in, the synced copy too. Saved photos have their own delete all saved photos control in your gallery. For your email address or a full account deletion, write to hello@theread.life and we will remove it within 30 days. You can also ask us for a copy of what we hold.
Age
The photo scan is for people 18 and over. We ask for your year of birth and take the answer at face value — we cannot verify it, and we do not try to estimate age from your photo. Under 18, the camera step is not offered.
